Picture this: a rolling pack of up to 100 cyclists, guided by expert ride leaders, protected by police escorts and motos, and supported every mile of the way by a dedicated SAG team.

  • The Sugar Rush – Registration includes:
    • Designated Ride Leaders managing the pace and target time.
    • Rolling enclosure with Police escort and motos clearing intersections.
    • Chip Timing
    • Dedicated SAG and Mechanical support
    • A custom designed “Sugar Rush” jersey for finishing under 5 hours, 5:30 for women.
    • Two designated Feed Zones with 5-minute timed stop each.
    • WWW t-shirt, Finishers medal and candy bag to all participants regardless of time.
    • NO REGISTRATION ON RIDE MORNING
    • Field limited to 100 riders.
  • Equipment Rules
    • ONLY bicycles with drop type handlebars allowed.
    • NO Tri-bikes and/or aero bars.
    • NO fixed gear bikes.
    • NO E-Bikes.
    • NO HEADPHONES or SPEAKERS of any kind.
  • THIS IS NOT A RACE. The goal of the Sugar Rush is to finish under the allotted time, keeping as many riders in the peloton as possible.
    • Riders going off the front or failing to follow the rules may be disqualified.
  • Timed mileage in LESS than 5 hours (men) or LESS than 5 hours, 30 minutes (women). 2 minutes will be deducted for each 5-minute rest stop adding 3 minutes for each stop to the total time.
    • Neutral Rollout until Sugar Rush start timing Line.
    • Sugar Rush finish timing line is separate from and BEFORE the WWW finish line.
  • Peloton Support and Center Line Rule
    • Police and Motorcycle support clears intersections and provide an escort for the Peloton.
    • ONCOMING traffic on the route is NOT BEING STOPPED OR CONTROLLED. It is the OBLIGATION of EACH RIDER to remain RIGHT of the CENTER LINE!
    • ANY rider(s) ignoring this rule, an event official or moto may tell that rider(s) that they are no longer in the peloton and have become a regular rider, subject to all rules of the road.
    • ANY rider(s) that decide to go off the front of the group or does not follow the pace prescribed by the designated Ride Leaders or event official, may be told to leave the peloton and become a regular rider, subject to all rules of the road.
    • Pulled rider(s) Bib Number(s) will be reported to Event Control and WILL NOT be eligible for the finisher’s jersey.
    • When a rider falls off the back more than 1 minute, SAG/Moto will inform Event Control of rider bib number. The rider will be told they are now more than 1 minute off-the-back and become a regular rider, and subject to all rules of the road.
  • Feed Zones
    • 2 Feed Zones at approximately 35 and 70 miles
    • All riders, motorcycles and support vehicles WILL STOP for 5 minutes at the Feed Zone.
    • The Lead vehicle will be the timekeeper and call time when 5 minutes is up.
    • Peloton will begin a slow roll out at maximum 15mph so that the Peloton can reform, once the Peloton reforms the target pace will resume.
    • No service from a moving car or motorcycle is allowed.
